[[* NURSE'S RULES *]]

well.. i just got this from a friend.. she has a book entitled "365 rules on nursing".. she keeps on sending these rules to me.. eh i think it's really cool so i've decided to post it here in my blog.. so far i got only 15.. pwede namang i-post nalang ulit yung mga kasunod.. ang kulit kasi.. most of them are super true.. haha..

1. Sit down when you talk with patients. Whether it is a nursing history, a patient education session, or discharge instructions.

2. The good nurse knows what she does not know.

3. There is no blood or urine test to measure mental function. There probably never will be.

4. Learn to do a thorough mental status evaluation. Do it as you go along. Fill it in later. Mood, affect, attitude, appearance, disorganized vs. organized, rapport, speech content, delusions, hallucinations, judgement, memory, recent and remote.

5. Be wary of patients who are overly complimentary of you as a nurse, especially on first meetings.

6. SIGNS OF A BAD SHIFT. An ER stretcher is sticking out in the hallway. The emergency code cart is covered with ECG paper and empty syringes, and all drawers are open. You meet a city policeman on the elevator who asks directions to your unit. A nurse is filling out 3 incident reports. Bloody sheets and pillows are flowing into the hallway from a patient's room. The head nurse is asking in a loud voice if anymone wants overtime.

7. Reflex hammers and stethoscopes disappear.

8. Most people are healthy and will live long lives.

9. Always examine the part that the patient complains about. Put your hand on the area.

10. The only way to determine a patient's need is to listen, look carefully, and ask good questions.

11. Watch patients carefully who are treated with a second drug to coreect a reaction to a first drug.

12. No suppository belongs to the nose.

13. When patient's are admitted to the hospital, they bring their dignity with them. Make sure no one robs them of it.

14. False teeth get lost.

15. Touch patients each time you see them, even if you only hold their hands or feel their pulse. Do this especially with older people. CAUTION: Some patients prefer to reach out and touch you first.

"We know we're inlove when we can't fall asleep 'cause REALITY is finally better than our DREAMS."

*._ThoUghTs/LyriCs_.* * All Good Things *

Honestly, what will become of me Don't like reality It's way too clear to me But really life is dandy We are what we don't see Miss everything daydreaming Flames to dust Lovers to friends Why do all good things come to an end Come to an end Come to an Why do all good things come to an end Traveling, I only stop at exits Wondering if I'll stay-tay Young and restless Living this way I stress less I want to pull away when the dream dies The pain sets in and I don't cry I only feel gravity and I wonder why Flames to dust Lovers to friends Why do all good things come to an end Come to an end Come to an Why do all good things come to an end And the dogs were whistling a new tune Barking at the new moon Hoping it would come soon So that they could die... And the sun was wondering if it should stay away for a day Til the feeling went away And the sky was falling and the clouds were dropping And the rainfall forgot how to bring salvation The dogs were barking at the new moon Whistling a new tune hoping it would come soon So that they could die
